A volume is a named, persistent folder that outlives your pods. It's stored on Cloudflare R2 and mounted into the pod when it starts.
svl run -v data:/workspace python:3 python train.py
svl run -v data:/workspace alpine ls /workspace # the files are still there
svl volumes ls
-v NAME:/path creates the volume the first time (account admins and owners), then mounts it wherever you choose — anywhere except system paths like /proc or /etc.
Things to know
- One pod at a time. A volume can be attached to one running pod. Start the next pod after the previous one stops.
- Writes are uploaded when the pod stops. serverless.au waits for pending uploads before the volume is released, so the next pod sees everything.
- Best for big files. Checkpoints, datasets and outputs work well; lots of tiny files, databases or file locking don't.
- Long-running pods: in the beta, a pod's volume access lasts 7 days from when it started. Restart pods that need a volume for longer.
Deleting
svl volumes rm data
This deletes the volume and all of its files. It can't be undone.
